Adrian Zmed Celebrates Major Milestones: 'Grease 2' Cast Reunion Sparks New Spotlight
Hollywood casting directors did not discover Adrian Zmed at an audition in Burbank. His talent was forged in Chicago and refined on Broadway. The son of a Romanian Orthodox priest, Zmed studied at the Goodman School of Drama before heading to New York. In 1977, he landed the career-defining role of Danny Zuko in the original Broadway production of Grease at the Royale Theatre, stepping into shoes previously worn by Barry Bostwick, John Travolta, and Treat Williams.
That stage discipline allowed him to move easily between disciplines. While filming T.J. Hooker during the week, he signed on to play Jay O'Neill in the 1984 raunch-comedy Bachelor Party alongside Tom Hanks. Produced on an estimated $6 million budget, the film grossed over $38 million, cementing Zmed’s status as a bankable comedic screen presence during the height of the 1980s comedy explosion.

Concurrent with his acting schedule, television executives recruited Zmed to host the syndicated competition series Dance Fever in 1985, succeeding original host Denny Terrio. His boundless enthusiasm, quick wit, and genuine dance background kept the series competitive in syndication for two additional seasons before the program concluded its multi-year run.
