Why Jujutsu Kaisen Fans Mourn Gojo and Geto Every Christmas Eve Instead of Celebrating
The tragedy began in the 2017 prequel manga Tokyo Metropolitan Curse Technical School, later adapted into the worldwide box office hit Jujutsu Kaisen 0. Suguru Geto marched into Jujutsu High to declare war against the sorcerer establishment. He announced that on December 24, 2017, at sundown, he would unleash the Night Parade of a Hundred Demons (Hyakki Yagyō) across Shinjuku and Kyoto.
Geto aimed to distract the sorcery world's elite forces while he isolated and killed Yuta Okkotsu to seize the special grade vengeful spirit, Rika Orimoto. He chose Christmas Eve because large metropolitan gatherings made prime targets for absolute chaos. His plan failed. Okkotsu defeated Geto in school grounds, leaving the rogue curse user crippled and dragging his body into an alleyway.
There, Satoru Gojo cornered him. The confrontation ended without spectacle or shouting. After a brief exchange where Gojo uttered his mysterious, muted parting words, Gojo executed Geto himself. The date of Geto's death was set forever: Christmas Eve.
