Arcade balances represent real monetary investments. Understanding how the company handles dormant value protects your cash. Under the official Dave & Buster's card expiration policy, purchased game chips do not expire. Standard purchased value remains valid indefinitely across all participating company locations in North America. State consumer protection statutes, most notably in California, New York, and Massachusetts, treat unspent commercial recreation credits similarly to gift card balances, strictly barring automatic dormancy fees or balance erasures.

Promotional credits tell a different story. Free gameplay chips issued via reward milestones, email promotions, or app sign-up incentives frequently carry strict 30- to 90-day redemption windows. If you check your balance and notice a drop in credits despite having skipped the arcade for months, promotional balance expiration is almost always the cause. Tickets earned through gameplay never expire, remaining permanently anchored to the card ID or digital user profile.

Lost card balance recovery hinges entirely on pre-loss registration. If an unregistered physical card vanishes on the arcade floor, the finder can spend every chip and ticket without impediment. The venue treats unregistered physical cards like cash. However, if you have registered your card barcode number and PIN inside the Dave & Buster's Rewards app prior to misplacing it, the balance remains secure. Front desk staff or telephone customer service can immediately freeze the missing card serial number, transfer game chips and earned tickets to a pristine replacement card, and void the lost plastic permanently.
