How to Cancel Your Anytime Fitness Membership Without Paying Hidden Penalties
Permanent cancellation is not always the most practical financial option. If you are facing an extended business trip, temporary seasonal relocation, or a brief rehabilitative recovery, a formal membership freeze offers a temporary reprieve without terminating your membership status.
Most Anytime Fitness facilities permit members to place accounts on hold for one to three months within a rolling calendar year. While frozen, full membership dues are suspended in exchange for a nominal maintenance fee of roughly $5 to $15 per month. Freezing your account prevents you from paying a new enrollment fee, key fob activation charge, or higher market dues if you plan to return to training within 90 days.
A freeze pauses your existing contract term rather than eliminating it. If you freeze your account for two months while four months remain on your initial one-year commitment, those remaining four months resume the moment your freeze expires. Freezing is an operational pause, not a shortcut out of your legal agreement.
