How Old Is Mitsuri Kanroji? the Truth Behind the Love Hashira's Canonical Age
By Maya Lin-Takahashi
The definitive answer to Mitsuri’s age originates directly from Koyoharu Gotouge’s canonical publications, specifically the *Kimetsu no Yaiba Official Fanbook: Kisatsutai Kenbunroku*. In these character profiles, Gotouge documents the baseline biography for every Hashira at the start of Tanjiro Kamado’s Hashira-level interactions. Mitsuri entered the story at 19 years old and remains 19 through the climax of the series.
In May 2023, Crunchyroll marked her character milestone by highlighting official Shueisha manga trailers celebrating her June 1 birthday, reinforcing her established place in the timeline. Her age carries genuine thematic weight. In Japan's historical Taisho period (1912, 1926), an unmarried 19-year-old woman faced intense social pressure to secure a match. Mitsuri’s age is not arbitrary window dressing; it directly fuels the central conflict of her youth.
At 17, an arranged marriage proposal collapsed after her prospective suitor rejected her due to her naturally pink-and-green hair, immense physical strength, and colossal appetite. Devastated, she spent the next two years trying to disguise who she was before abandoning societal expectations entirely to join the Demon Slayer Corps. By 19, she had transformed an experience of rejection into a weapon against Muzan Kibutsuji’s Upper Rank demons.
