Buhle Samuels Net Worth, Age, Husband & Career: the Complete 2024 Celebrity Profile
By Elena Rostova
Samuels did not enter the entertainment sector through formal drama schools. Her first visible media assignment came through music television, hosting a breakfast video show on Africa Magic. That initial run established her poise under live broadcast pressure. When word spread that producers of the long-running soap opera Muvhango were auditioning for a magnetic, unapologetic antagonist, Samuels secured the role of Matshidiso over hundreds of trained competitors.
The character was ruthless. Viewers tuned in nightly by the millions to watch her schemes unfold, driving critical primetime ratings for the public broadcaster. That visibility brought industry recognition, including a Best Newcomer nomination at the 2015 Royalty Soapie Awards. After several intensive years of continuous shooting schedules, Samuels chose to exit the production to avoid creative stagnation. She later returned for brief guest arcs that commanded significantly higher per-call fees than standard cast agreements.
Her subsequent transition to premium streaming signaled a pivotal business decision. Joining Ferguson Films for Netflix's gritty supernatural crime drama Kings of Joburg, she played Zandile, a performance that exposed her to audiences across dozens of countries. The shift from local television licensing to platform-backed streaming budgets fundamentally altered her compensation bracket.
