Bepc 2026 Results Stun Benin: Female Candidates Sweep Top Honors as Pass Rate Climbs
By Elena Rostova
The most compelling story emerging from the 2026 results is the dominance of female candidates at the apex of the academic standings. Following the release of the general rankings, subsequent reporting on the top three candidates by department confirmed that female students took the number one position in seven out of twelve departments.
In Littoral, the highest overall score in the department went to a 14-year-old female student enrolled in a public CEG, who posted an exceptional composite average of 18.42 out of 20. Her transcripts included top marks in Mathematics, Physics-Chemistry-Technology (PCT), and French. Similarly, Atlantique's top laureate was a female student from an Abomey-Calavi institution, who earned an average of 18.15 out of 20.
Educational sociologists in Cotonou credit targeted secondary retention programs implemented over the past four years. Targeted tuition subsidies for young girls, mentorship programs in STEM disciplines, and local community engagement initiatives have sharply reduced dropout rates among female middle-schoolers. The 2026 examination honors confirm that these systemic investments are converting into measurable academic excellence.
