What Is the 'Frog Butt' Meme? Separating the Real Slang from the Hype
By Sarah Jenkins
Text-only memes have largely receded into static archives. In today's video-first ecosystem, vocabulary rarely spreads through reading alone; it travels through audio tracks that creators remix and recontextualize across millions of distinct video uploads.
Audio snippets undergo rapid mutations. A creator introduces an animation, another adds pitch-shifted vocals, and a third creates an acoustic cover. By the time a phrase enters everyday spoken language, millions of users already associate the words with specific rhythms, beats, and physical gestures. The slang becomes kinetic, tactile, and immediately reproducible.
