Why the Purple Ghost App Is Trending: How a Viral Tiktok Sparked Nationwide Curiosity
By David Miller
Q1: Is the purple ghost app a secret dating or hookup service?
No. The purple ghost icon is an alternate visual theme for Snapchat. It does not connect to any secret servers, hidden dating networks, or unlisted hookup portals.
Q2: How do people get the purple ghost icon on their home screens?
Users obtain the icon through two primary methods: subscribing to Snapchat Plus and picking the purple theme inside the app's settings menu, or utilizing the built-in Apple Shortcuts tool to create a custom bookmark paired with a purple graphic.
Q3: Does the purple icon hide chats or bypass regular notification systems?
No. Changing the visual icon does not alter Snapchat's underlying messaging protocols. Notifications, read receipts, and privacy settings function identically regardless of the selected icon skin.
