Before achieving international fame as Jacob Black in the Twilight franchise, Taylor Lautner landed his first major cinematic breakthrough as Sharkboy. A junior martial arts champion, Lautner performed his own acrobatic choreography in a foam-rubber shark suit, complete with fin and gills. His disciplined stunt execution grounded the otherwise chaotic green-screen sequences.

Meanwhile, comedian George Lopez delivered an unhinged, multi-role performance that defined the film's camp charm. Lopez played four characters: Max's grounded teacher Mr. Electricidad, the robotic guide Tobor, the Ice Guardian, and the villainous Mr. Electric, an oversized floating face encased in a cracked lightbulb. Lopez spent entire production days delivering rapid-fire electrical puns while suspended in front of green backdrops, creating one of the most recognizable, bizarre antagonist performances of early 2000s children's entertainment.
