If the graphical Services console stalls or gives an error code 1053, the Windows Service Controller binary provides a direct, elevated alternative. This bypasses interface bugs that occasionally afflict Windows 10 and Windows 11 desktop shells.
Open the Windows search bar, type cmd, right-click Command Prompt, and select Run as administrator. Once the elevated terminal launches, input the query command to evaluate the current state of the driver interface:
sc query vgc
If the output reflects STATE: 1 STOPPED, trigger the service directly by executing the sc start vgc command:
sc start vgc
