Why Demus Stopped Importing Spotify Playlists: Is Spotify Silently Blocking Third-Party Apps?
If your playlists refuse to populate, work through these targeted fixes before abandoning your library transfer.
1. Sanitize the Spotify Playlist URL
Open Spotify, tap the three dots on your playlist, and select Share > Copy Link. Instead of pasting it directly into Demus, paste it into the iOS Notes app first. Look for the question mark (?). Delete the question mark and everything after it. Your link should look like https://open.spotify.com/playlist/YOURUNIQUEID. Copy this cleaned string and paste it into Demus.
2. Force Public Status and Add to Profile
Spotify's permission layers can be deceptively opaque. Open the Spotify mobile app, navigate to your target playlist, tap the three dots, and verify that Make Public is selected. Next, tap Add to Profile. This forces Spotify’s backend to index the playlist on public CDN edge nodes, making metadata accessible to external queries.
3. Clear the Demus Internal Cache
Corrupted local network caches will cause Demus to loop failed requests continuously. Open Demus > Settings > Advanced (or Data Management) and tap Clear Cache. Close the app completely via the iOS App Switcher, wait ten seconds, and relaunch it. This resets your session tokens and purges stored request headers.
4. Split Massive Playlists into Batches
Demus struggles with sprawling playlists containing more than 250 to 500 tracks. Spotify's API throttles pagination requests on massive lists, causing Demus to abort the transfer halfway through. Duplicate your massive playlist into smaller chunks ("Summer Part 1," "Summer Part 2"), import them individually, and merge them inside Demus once downloaded.
