Who Played the Nanny in the Cat in the Hat? the Wild Story Behind Mrs. Kwan
By James H. Sterling
Fortunately, the bruising experience of the 2003 shoot did not derail Hill’s momentum. Rather than remaining defined by a singular studio disaster, Hill steadily expanded her filmography, becoming one of the most recognizable and dependable character actors working in television.
Audiences recognized her as Sue in the 2004 Adam Sandler comedy 50 First Dates, followed by major recurring arcs in critically acclaimed series such as Crazy Ex-Girlfriend (playing Lourdes Davis), Amazon’s Just Add Magic, and Preacher. Between 2018 and 2024, she anchored the reboot of Magnum P.I. as Kumu, earning steady work across nearly one hundred episodes.
Her candor regarding Myers and the realities of big-budget studio sets earned widespread respect among industry peers. In a business that often demands diplomatic silence about difficult working environments, Hill offered an unvarnished window into what happens when uncontrolled star power collides with an overleveraged children’s movie.
