Who Is in Amanda Anisimova's Box? the Reality Star Mystery at Wimbledon
By Maya Lin-Takahashi
Anisimova’s decision to step away from the WTA Tour in May 2023 marked an essential turning point. Few athletes possess the courage to walk away from professional tennis at 21 years old. She cited mental fatigue and severe burnout, prioritizing personal recovery over rankings points.
During her time away, she took art classes at the University of Miami and lived a routine existence disconnected from tour logistics. She untangled her self-worth from wins and losses. When she returned in January 2024, she dismantled the circus of outside distractions that had complicated her earlier seasons.
That mental reset paid massive dividends. Her subsequent hard-court success, culminating in a signature upset over World No. 1 Iga Swiatek at the US Open, showcased a competitor with renewed poise. Gulf News reported that Anisimova actively studied past tactical breakdowns to engineer that victory over Swiatek, highlighting her sharpened analytical mindset. The players box was no longer a platform for lifestyle branding; it was an office built for tactical execution.
