Where Did Your Screenshot Go? How to Capture and Find Screen Grabs on Chromebook Touchscreens
For selective framing without manual cropping, ChromeOS houses a dedicated utility directly on the system shelf. This path gives you total control over the capture area without needing physical buttons or a physical keyboard attached.
Tap the system clock in the lower-right corner of your screen to open the Quick Settings menu. Locate the tile labeled "Screen capture." Tapping this icon activates the floating ChromeOS Screen Capture tool bar at the bottom center of your display. The overlay offers three operational modes:
First, the marquee box allows a partial screenshot. Drag your finger across any rectangular zone of the display, adjust the corner anchor nodes to fine-tune your borders, and tap the central "Capture" button. Second, the window icon snaps an isolated application frame while ignoring your shelf or background wallpaper. Third, the camera icon records the entire visible display instantly. This menu also features an integrated toggle to switch between still photography and screen video recording with optional microphone audio.
