What the iPhone Duo Actually Looks Like: the Dual-Screen Leak Stunner
The concept renders do not exist in a vacuum. Over the past three years, the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has granted Apple several foundational patents covering dual-display sync, magnetic chassis closure, and light-bending boundary layers. Patent application US20240184332A1 explicitly outlines methods for optical seam concealment between two adjacent flat display panels.
Supply-chain tracking reports out of East Asia corroborate these blueprints. Display manufacturers have expanded pilot manufacturing lines for ultra-narrow border driver ICs (display driver integrated circuits). By moving the display controller logic entirely beneath the active matrix rather than folding it underneath the bezel edge, Apple achieves uniform 0.9 mm display borders on all four sides of each panel.
Thermal design patents also explain the internal component layout. The logic board sits entirely on the right half beneath the rear camera module, while the left half houses a secondary high-density silicon-carbon battery pack. A high-bandwidth flexible printed circuit (FPC) snakes through the center hinge gears, transferring power and 40 Gbps data streams between the dual halves with zero latency.
