What’s Next for Oscar Isaac? Fact-Checking Rumors on Upcoming Movies and Tv
By Sarah Jenkins
No project prompts more fan queries than Isaac's double duty across comic-book multiverses. In 2022, Isaac took on the fractured, dissociative identity disorder world of Marc Spector and Steven Grant in Marvel Studios' six-episode miniseries Moon Knight. Critics praised Isaac's performance, but what is the status of a follow-up?
Marvel Studios underwent a broad structural reset between 2024 and 2026, scaling back its Disney+ television output to focus on quality over sheer volume. Despite occasional social media teases from Isaac and director Mohamed Diab in Cairo, Marvel has not formally greenlit Moon Knight Season 2. The legal contract Isaac signed was an initial limited-series agreement, deliberately structured so he was not trapped in a decade-long service clause. Isaac has publicly stated he will only reprise Marc Spector if a compelling creative hook exists.
A return within an ensemble film remains far more structurally plausible than a standalone second streaming season. Marvel executives regularly integrate television-introduced protagonists into large-scale crossovers rather than funding standalone $150 million sophomore seasons.
Meanwhile, Isaac's vocal performance as Miguel O'Hara (Spider-Man 2099) in Spider-Man Across the Spider-Verse turned the character into a fan favorite. Sony Pictures Animation continues work on Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse. Following reports of extensive script polish and meticulous animation timelines, production continues behind closed doors. Isaac will return to conclude the animated trilogy, but studio insiders emphasize animation voice recording runs concurrently with visual builds, meaning release dates continue to evolve.
