What Happened to Slick'em from Pretty Ricky? Everything You Need to Know
By Chloe Bennett
Corey Mathis has kept a comparatively low profile online, sharing sporadic video clips and photos to social media that show him spending time with family away from major commercial stages. Fans frequently flood his comment sections with prayers, encouraging him to reconnect with his group and seek whatever medical assistance he needs. Mathis has occasionally pushed back against the narrative that he is incapable of working, expressing frustration over being sidelined from lucrative heritage dates.
Industry insiders understand that group reformations in classic R&B are heavily contingent on insurance bonds, live-event promoter guarantees, and liability assessments. If a performer cannot clear the standard insurability checks required for large arena package tours, promoters will refuse to sign off on their appearance. For Pretty Ricky, moving forward as a three-man unit was the only legal and operational path that allowed them to fulfill contracts for events like Verzuz and legacy R&B festivals.
A four-man reunion remains dependent entirely on Mathis's health journey. The remaining members have consistently affirmed that their boundary is rooted in care rather than hostility. Until Mathis agrees to complete comprehensive care, Pretty Ricky will continue to book appearances, release archival material, and perform their classic catalog as a trio.
