What Happened on the 15 Freeway Today? Fatal Rollover and Massive Truck Fire Paralyze Traffic
By Chloe Bennett
The interstate faced challenges outside California as well. Early Tuesday, emergency personnel responded to a rollover wreck on I-15 near Jean, Nevada, roughly 30 miles south of the Las Vegas Strip. The single-vehicle crash resulted in a fatality and forced the Nevada State Police to close multiple lanes for accident reconstruction.
Because Interstate 15 serves as the lone high-capacity route connecting the Las Vegas Valley to Southern California, the Jean crash immediately backed up commercial freight and inter-city passenger travel. Long-haul truck drivers reported idling in queues stretching past the Primm state line. By mid-morning, the combination of the Jean wreck, the Cajon Pass fire, and the Ontario closure created an unprecedented sequence of disruptions along the corridor.
