Two French Braids Transformation: Visual Guide to Achieving Salon-Quality Symmetry
Fastening the ends requires high-quality clear elastic bands. Standard hair ties add unwanted bulk that distorts the taper of the plait. Secure each tail firmly about an inch above the ends, winding the band snugly around the hair without overlapping it onto the braided segments.
Once both sides are anchored, examine the symmetry in a secondary mirror. Check whether the rows track parallel paths down the skull and ensure the volume matches from temple to nape. If minor flyaways or baby hairs poke through, warm a pea-sized amount of flyaway smoothing cream between your palms and smooth it gently along the surface of each braid following the direction of the weave.
If you prefer a softer, fuller aesthetic, gently pancake the outer curves. Hold the base of the braid with one hand, then use the thumb and forefinger of your other hand to tug slightly on the outermost edges of each loop. Work upward from the bottom to create even volume without pulling hairs completely out of the internal structure.
