Timeline of a Fan Revolt: How 'Why Is He Lying' Took over Giants Discussions
By Chloe Bennett
For the coaching staff, this narrative creates an unwelcome tactical complication. Head coach Brian Daboll and his offensive assistants rely heavily on backfield cohesion to set up play-action passing concepts. When a running back's psychological readiness becomes a weekly referendum, every missed blitz pickup or cautious slide out of bounds gets amplified by cameras and scrutinizing analysts.
Opposing defensive coordinators notice these narratives as well. If game film suggests a runner is prioritizing preservation over second-effort yardage, defensive boxes crowd the line of scrimmage, daring the back to absorb punishers in the interior gaps. The Giants must now decide whether to preserve Skattebo's touches by elevating change-of-pace options on the depth chart or double down on his role to quell whispers of hesitation.
