The Ultimate Cobbleverse Fishing Guide: Rods, Biomes, Baits, and Rare Catches
If you rely solely on empty hooks, target farming specific Pokémon is an uphill battle. Cobbleverse integrates bait crafting to let players filter spawn tables before the bobber hits the water.
Baits are created at a crafting bench using a base of crushed Apricorns mixed with specific ingredients:
- Sweet Bait (Pecha Berry + Blue Apricorn): Increases the catch probability of passive, low-IV aquatic Pokémon and common water starters by 35%.
- Pungent Bait (Rotten Flesh + Black Apricorn): Attracts scavenger and predatory species, significantly raising the spawn weight of Carvanha, Sharpedo, and Grimer.
- Luminous Bait (Glowstone Dust + Yellow Apricorn): Mandatory for abyss hunting; forces deep-water spawns to surface even in broad daylight.
- Heavy Lure (Iron Nugget + Heavy Ball Shell): Increases the weight check on catches, pulling evolved forms like Gyarados and Seaking directly to the hook.
Bait attaches directly to your rod in the off-hand slot or through dedicated tackle interfaces present in Cobbleverse mod configurations. Each cast expends one unit of bait upon a successful bite.
For collectors, chain fishing remains the most effective path to acquiring shiny water-types without breeding. By anchoring your character in a single spot and successfully hooking Pokémon consecutively without moving, failing a reel-in, or pulling empty junk, you build an encounter streak.
At a chain of 20 consecutive catches, shiny odds compress from the baseline 1/8192 (or server-default 1/4096) down to roughly 1/512. Moving more than two blocks, recasting into a different chunk, or missing a bite timer resets the counter to zero.
