The Rise of 'Travis Scott Fish': a Complete Timeline of the Internet's Wildest Meme
By Chloe Bennett
The visual genesis arrived on July 15, 2025, when Cactus Jack Records published the official video for "Kick Out." As UPROXX observed at the time, the release departed sharply from the dystopian cyberpunk motifs dominating previous albums like Utopia. Instead, the video framed Scott alongside his collective in pastoral, sun-drenched settings. Scott appeared on an unassuming dock, wearing an oversized graphic tee, dark shades, and waders, carefully reeling in a line before presenting his catch to the camera.
He held the fish at arm's length for barely two seconds. His expression remained stone-faced. The animal flopped helplessly against his palm while distorted 808s rattled in the background. Hip-hop visuals typically treat water scenes as opportunities to display mega-yachts in Miami or speedboats cutting through Mediterranean ports. Seeing one of rap's most chaotic figures participating in an everyday pastime struck audiences as absurdly hypnotic. Fans immediately took screen recordings, isolated the moment, and shared it across group chats.
