'The Rabbit Got Me' Trend Explained: Meaning, Origins, and How to Join the Conversation
By James H. Sterling
TikTok slang rarely survives in isolation. It relies on the same social mechanics that made previous tropes dominant across social platforms over recent years.
| Trending Slang | Core Definition | Dominant Video Format | Peak Activity |
|---|---|---|---|
| The Rabbit Got Me | Succumbing to hyperfixation, surprises, or life curveballs | Subtle text overlays, storytimes, deadpan reaction faces | 2025, 2026 |
| Canon Event | An unavoidable, painful life trial essential for character growth | Observational third-person clips, cinema score audios | 2023, 2024 |
| Roman Empire | A random historical topic or niche thought pondered daily | Street interviews, spontaneous partner questioning | 2023, 2024 |
| Let Him Cook | Giving someone space to pursue an unorthodox strategy | Comment spam, sports highlights, gaming streams | 2022, 2024 |
The trajectory matches historical precedent. What starts as insider lingo spreads rapidly through repetition before settling into a standard vocabulary choice for digital natives.
