The Exact Audio & Video Source Behind the 'Cock Is Ticking' Meme Trend
By James H. Sterling
Q1: What is the original video clip used in the 'cock is ticking' meme?
A1: The visual footage originates from Disney's 1951 animated feature *Alice in Wonderland*, specifically the sequence where the frantic White Rabbit repeatedly taps and checks his oversized pocket watch while singing about being late.
Q2: Did the original song singer actually say those explicit words?
A2: No. The vocalist in the original audio recorded the standard idiom "the clock is ticking." Heavy audio compression, rapid vocal inflection, and the removal of dynamic range caused the letter "L" to drop out of the audible frequency range, creating a Mondegreen.
Q3: Why did the White Rabbit pointing at clock meme suddenly blow up on TikTok?
A3: The meme spiked after content creators synced the misheard audio stem with the frantic animation loop. The comedic contrast between classic children's animation and accidental profanity sparked massive loop rates and comment debates, supercharging platform algorithms.
