The Complete Peak Multiplayer Guide: Player Counts, Crossplay, and Setup
Assembling a functional lobby takes only moments when done correctly. Following a clear sequence prevents missing inventory items and broken network joins.
- Elect the Host: Have the player with the fastest, wired internet connection launch the game and select Create Expedition.
- Configure the Room Privacy: Set the lobby to Friends Only or Private (Code Required). Avoid setting it to Open Public unless you want random climbers joining before your friends arrive.
- Distribute the Code: Copy the generated lobby invite code from the lobby management screen and share it with your squad.
- Enter via Crossplay Menu: Teammates must navigate to Join Game, select Enter Invite Code, input the code, and confirm. Steam users can alternately accept direct client invites.
- Confirm Loadouts in Staging: Ensure every climber confirms their gear pack in the base camp cabin before the host clicks Begin Ascent. Altering gear while the map loads can trigger inventory desync bugs.
If a teammate drops out mid-climb, the game allows drop-in reconnects. As long as the host keeps the session running, the disconnected player can re-enter the expedition using the same code, spawning at the nearest secure bivouac station.
