The Complete Guide to the 'Freakier Friday' Popcorn Bucket and Drink Sipper
By Alexander Ross
For moviegoers who missed out on the mechanical switcheroo bucket, theaters offered a secondary tier of items. The most durable alternative is the classic metal collector tin. Featuring embossed artwork of Curtis and Lohan back-to-back with a cracked-mirror motif running down the center, the tin offers a cleaner display profile for home shelves.
The Direct's photo breakdown of the film's promotional catalog revealed several other variations:
- Metallic-Finish Cups: Standard 32-ounce drink containers wrapped in iridescent foil featuring the film's logo and release date.
- Locket Straw Buddies: Small plastic clips shaped like Chinese fortune cookies that clamp directly onto standard reusable straws.
- Mini Concession Pails: Scaled-down plastic buckets designed for children's combo meals, featuring simplified animated graphics of the lead cast.
The metal collector tin has emerged as the preference for purists who prioritize longevity over gimmicks. Molded plastics with moving internal gears often break if dropped on concrete lobby floors, whereas tin holds up to repeat washings without graphic degradation.
