Step-by-Step Visual Guide: How to Unlock Any Native Pump Bottle in Seconds
Occasionally, factory assembly machines overtighten the packaging tolerances, locking the threads into the plastic collar beyond what manual grip strength can break. When standard twisting fails entirely, removing the mechanism from the container bypasses the lack of leverage.
Twist the wide base cap counterclockwise to unscrew the entire assembly from the square-shouldered bottle. Pull the dip tube straight out of the liquid and allow excess shampoo to drain back into the reservoir.
Wrap a paper towel or clean washcloth around the wet plastic piston stem just below the cap. Grip this shaft tightly with your fingers. If the factory seal remains completely unyielding, gentle pressure with household slip-joint pliers over a protective rubber band will provide instant purchase without gouging the plastic.
While holding the wet internal stem stationary, twist the spout head counterclockwise. Because the torque transfers directly to the threaded locking point without slipping against the reservoir neck, the spring pops open immediately. Screw the entire assembly back onto the bottle, tighten the collar firmly down to the shoulder, and prime the chamber with three to four firm downward strokes.
