Rayj Dennis Atlanta Hawks Timeline: from Signing to 2026-27 Season
By Chloe Bennett
Q1: What contract status does RayJ Dennis hold with Atlanta?
A1: Dennis initially joined Atlanta on a two-way deal on December 31, 2025, which split his playing availability between the NBA Hawks and the College Park Skyhawks while allowing the front office to evaluate his transition to top-tier competition.
Q2: Why did Dennis go undrafted despite impressive collegiate production?
A2: Scouting reports pointed to concerns regarding lateral quickness, pure burst off the dribble, and consistency on outside pull-ups. Teams were skeptical about how his deliberate offensive tempo would manage elite rim protectors.
Q3: How does Dennis affect Atlanta's rotational dynamics when on the floor?
A3: Dennis stabilizes the second unit by cutting down on live-ball turnovers and setting an organized half-court tempo. He allows secondary scorers to operate off screens rather than forcing them to generate offense off the dribble.
