Getting the executable onto the Deck requires switching outside the standard handheld UI. Power down the device, press the physical Steam button, select Power, and tap Switch to Desktop. Once inside SteamOS Desktop Mode, the primary objective is organizing the game directory within a location that SteamOS file permissions will not accidentally wipe during a system update.

Extract the standalone game archive into this designated directory rather than temporary download folders. The directory contains the primary executable, the supporting data packs, and several bundled dynamic link libraries (.dll files).
Open the native Steam desktop client. In the bottom-left corner of the window, click Add a Game, then select Add a Non-Steam Game.... Browse directly to the path where Gardenless was extracted, change the file filter at the bottom from "Applications (.desktop)" to "All Files (.)", select the main `.exe` file, and confirm the selection.
This creates your Non-Steam game shortcut. At this stage, do not attempt to launch the game. Steam defaults to launching foreign binaries without a translation layer, which results in an immediate silent crash back to the desktop interface.
