Natalie Harp and the 'Girl from Obsession' Explained: Everything You Need to Know
By Elena Rostova
Most presidential aides operate in the shadows, coordinating press pools or assembling policy binders away from television cameras. Natalie Harp followed a distinctly different trajectory. A former television host on the conservative network One America News (OAN), Harp joined Trump’s communications team during his post-presidency and quickly became an indispensable fixture on the campaign trail.
Writers at Studio 8H noticed her unique working routine. Media reports regularly described Harp following Trump across golf courses, carrying a portable battery pack and a miniature printer so he could review paper printouts of social media commentary and news articles in real time. When late-night satirists sought an angle to capture the unusual dynamic between the former president and his closest loyalists, the imagery of unwavering, poetic dedication offered an obvious target.
The resulting SNL cold open leaned into vintage melodrama. Rather than depicting Harp as a typical political operative briefing reporters behind a lectern, the show stylized her as a moody, perfume-commercial protagonist whispering vows of vengeance against Trump’s enemies into the wind.
