The public fascination with Lawrence's family reached a fever pitch in mid-2021 when Jasmin Page Lawrence confirmed her relationship with Eric Murphy, the eldest son of comedy titan Eddie Murphy. Contrary to popular assumption, the two comedy stars did not arrange the connection. "We haven't talked about it," Lawrence laughed, before adding his own terms. "We kind of just stay out of their business and let them do their own thing. But I’m definitely going to try to get Eddie to pay for the wedding." Murphy responded in kind in a separate interview, quipping that tradition dictates the bride's father covers the bill, stoking an affectionate, viral back-and-forth across social media.
