Martin Lawrence and Tichina Arnold Dating Rumors: What on-Set Proof and Archives Reveal
By Robert Thorne
Decades after the series ended, the cast took deliberate steps to heal old wounds. In June 2022, the surviving cast members, Lawrence, Campbell, Arnold, and Carl Anthony Payne II (Cole Brown), reunited for a high-profile BET+ special hosted by comedian Affion Crockett. The absence of Thomas Mikal Ford (Tommy Strawn), who died in October 2016 at age 52, served as an emotional catalyst for the group to set aside historical grievances.
During the reunion, Arnold openly reflected on the creative freedom Lawrence provided the entire cast. She reiterated that their comedic chemistry worked so effectively because there were no hidden agendas, romantic entanglements, or bruised egos between them as performers.
That professional kinship was visible again at the 75th Primetime Emmy Awards in January 2024, where Lawrence, Campbell, Arnold, and Payne presented together on a reconstructed living-room set. The effortless banter between Lawrence and Arnold during the broadcast demonstrated an enduring professional camaraderie honed over thirty years of shared history.
