Mark Webster Today: from Darts World Champion to Pundit—and His Life off-Stage
Webster was born in St Asaph and raised in Denbigh, North Wales. Even after hoisting world championship trophies and securing hundreds of thousands of pounds in tour prize money, he never relocated to tax havens or darts hotspots in England.
Before throwing darts professionally, Webster earned his living as a qualified plumber. That background shaped his reputation as one of the most grounded figures in British sport. Friends from Denbighshire recount that even when he was competing on live television against Phil Taylor or Raymond van Barneveld, Webster returned on Mondays to play in local pub leagues.
His family network remains firmly centered in Denbigh. Webster credit his parents and close local community with keeping his ego in check during his rapid ascent in the late 2000s. While he occasionally shares commentary schedule updates or Welsh rugby commentary on social media, images of home life, domestic partners, or personal milestones are deliberately excluded.
