Jackson's performance came after two quarters of punishing defensive football. The Louisville Kings entered Audi Field aiming to control time of possession through ground runs between the tackles. Their game plan worked early, stringing together a 12-play, 68-yard opening drive that produced an early 3, 0 advantage.
The DC Defenders responded through their aggressive edge rushers. Two key sacks stalled Louisville in the second quarter, leading to a blocked punt recovered at the Kings' 14-yard line. DC punched the ball into the end zone on a designed quarterback keeper two plays later. By the intermission, the Defenders led 13, 10, leaving fans on the edge of their seats before the music kicked off.
