Litter-Robot 5 Pro Real-World Test: Can Ai Really Automate Litter Maintenance?
Hardware utility matters far more than camera feeds when managing daily pet sanitation. Whisker expanded the bottom drawer footprint on the 5 Pro, smoothing the internal corners where past models suffered from waste stacking. In older designs, clumps formed a central pyramid, prompting the optical sensors to trigger "drawer full" alerts when the sides were entirely empty.
The revised geometry distributes deposits more evenly. In a two-cat household, the waste drawer capacity reliably lasts between five and seven days before requiring a bag swap. Single-cat homes can comfortably stretch intervals past ten days without overflowing the liner.
Odor management also sees subtle revisions. The odor control system combines sealed silicone gaskets along the trapdoor with an enlarged carbon filter housing situated directly beneath the cycling drum. Whisker now offers optional OdorTrap packs, synthetic neutralizers designed to fit alongside the carbon block. Testing in closed spaces reveals zero detectable ammonia smell during idle periods. Minor odor dispersal occurs only during the active 90-second rotation cycle when the waste chute opens over the bin.
