Lil Nas X 'Pregnancy' Timeline: from the Bump Reveal to 'Giving Birth' to 'Montero'
By Sarah Jenkins
Modern pop campaigns often rely on repetitive, corporate-sanctioned playbooks: billboard placements, radio junkets, and synchronized Spotify playlists. Lil Nas X rejected that formula in favor of chaotic, interactive storytelling. By transforming an album release into an absurd serial drama, he compelled the entire internet to participate in the narrative.
The Montero rollout established an undeniable truth about digital-era entertainment: attention goes to those willing to break decorum and invite controversy without blinking. Hill understood the mechanics of online discourse better than the executives running legacy labels. His simulated pregnancy remains one of the sharpest, most effective marketing triumphs in modern music history.
