By Maya Lin-Takahashi
Directing an episode of a major network drama like Fire Country is one of the most demanding trials in television. The production involves practical fire effects, heavy stunt coordination, rapidly moving water, aerial equipment, and an expansive ensemble cast. Television directors are expected to deliver dynamic, broadcast-ready footage on brutal eight-to-ten-day production schedules without sacrificing nuance.
Leslie de Jesus Alejandro stepped onto the Fire Country set fully prepared for that pressure. Her episodes earned praise from crew members and fans for seamless integration of heart-pounding emergency rescues with quiet, intense character reconciliations. Directing her husband in his role as Manny Perez added an intriguing professional layer. Both creatives maintained clear, professional separation between domestic life and workplace hierarchy, earning respect from the production crew for their collaborative efficiency.
