Lacy Knee Injury Timeline: from Core House Court to Streamer University
Managing an ACL revision is an agonizingly slow medical process. Unlike simple muscle strains that resolve with rest, an open tear in an intrasynovial ligament cannot heal on its own due to continuous fluid flow within the joint capsule. Lacy faces an extensive reconstructive procedure followed by a disciplined rehabilitation program spanning three distinct phases:
First comes preoperative prehabilitation. Surgeons prefer operating on knees that have full extension and minimal excess fluid, which lowers the odds of postoperative arthrofibrosis (excessive internal scar tissue). Second, the surgery itself will require graft harvesting or donor tissue integration. Finally, the postoperative recovery timeline requires 9 to 12 months before a patient can safely resume rotational sports like basketball. For daily streaming, Lacy can return to his desk within a couple of weeks post-op, but competitive athletic content is effectively off the table well into 2027.
