Kaitlin Becker's Career Journey: from Sprout Host to Meekah and Beyond
Between 2013 and 2017, Becker was the anchor of Sprout’s flagship morning block. Unlike prerecorded programming, The Sunny Side Up Show ran live every morning from Studio 51 at 30 Rockefeller Plaza. Becker shared the screen with co-hosts and Chica the Chicken, an expressive hand puppet operated by puppeteer Forrest Harding.
The job was a relentless masterclass in live television. Becker read viewer mail on air, led birthday shoutouts, cooked interactive snacks, and improvised around technical glitches. If a live caller froze on the line or an off-camera prop collapsed, Becker had to keep going without breaking character. Working with Chica required precise physical comedy, spatial awareness, and a sincere emotional connection. During her four-year tenure, Becker established herself as a trusted presence for parents and children alike, setting the tone for the network until its rebrand to Universal Kids.
