Is Onvoy Spectrum Llc a Real Company or a Telecom Scam? Fact-Checking Carrier Records
By Alexander Ross
Q1: Is Onvoy Spectrum LLC a legitimate business or a scam entity?
A1: Onvoy Spectrum LLC is a legitimate, federally licensed wholesale telecommunications provider owned by Sinch AB. The company does not generate scams itself, but malicious actors exploit its vast wholesale VoIP infrastructure and number inventories to transmit illegal automated calls.
Q2: Why does Onvoy's name appear when I look up a spam caller's phone number?
A2: Reverse carrier lookup directories display the telecom provider assigned to that specific number block by North American numbering registries. When scammers rent telephone numbers through downstream resellers or spoof numbers allocated to Onvoy, Onvoy appears as the carrier of record.
Q3: Can the FCC shut down Onvoy Spectrum LLC for carrying spam calls?
A3: The FCC holds the statutory power to issue binding orders instructing downstream domestic carriers to block traffic from any intermediate provider that repeatedly ignores robocall mitigation rules. While the agency rarely liquidates large carriers outright, it can penalize them with multimillion-dollar fines and sever non-compliant networks from the national grid.
