Inside Loma Santa Fe Executive Golf Course: Course Layout, Photos, and Hole Breakdown
The front nine sets the rhythm early, requiring surgical iron play right out of the gate.
- Hole 1 (Par 3, 138 yards): A gentle opening handshake playing slightly downhill toward a green sloping back-to-front. A miss short leaves an easy uphill pitch, while long puts golfers into thick fringe above the hole.
- Hole 2 (Par 3, 115 yards): Short but deceptive. Bell placed a deep bunker guarding the right flank. When the pin sits tucked behind the sand, carrying the bunker requires full commitment with a high-lofted wedge.
- Hole 3 (Par 3, 152 yards): The first serious test of mid-iron control. The green is narrow, framed by mature trees that shield the wind until your ball reaches the apex of its flight.
- Hole 4 (Par 3, 98 yards): The shortest hole on the card, but a classic Bell sucker-pin trap. A front bunker swallows tentative half-swings. Finding the center of the putting surface is the only smart play.
- Hole 5 (Par 3, 147 yards): Plays into the prevailing ocean breeze. Club selection frequently fluctuates two full clubs between morning calm and afternoon gusts.
- Hole 6 (Par 3, 160 yards): The longest par-3 on the outward nine. The green features a distinct ridge dividing the left and right tiers, punishing approach shots hit to the wrong quadrant with difficult two-putt trajectories.
- Hole 7 (Par 4, 268 yards): The first of the layout's two par-4s. Long hitters often attempt to drive the green, but out-of-bounds tight down the right side and strategic greenside bunkering make a hybrid or long-iron lay-up to 80 yards the mathematically superior choice.
- Hole 8 (Par 3, 134 yards): A mid-length approach to an elevated green. Distance control is critical; missing long leaves a nearly impossible recovery down a steep embankment.
- Hole 9 (Par 3, 126 yards): Wrapping up the outward half, this shot demands a carry over a slight depression to a wide, shallow green guarded heavily in front.
