How to Play Suction Cup Dart Games: Official Rules, Scoring, and Pro Throwing Tips
Competitive suction dart matches pit two players (singles) or four players (doubles) against each other across alternating frames. The objective is deceptively straightforward: place your darts closer to the target marker than your opponent.
Setup begins with target placement. In standardized play, players drop or stick a neutral silicone target marker, often bright orange or white, onto an approved flat, non-porous surface. In casual dining-table play, this marker sits dead center between players. In standing regulation toss formats, players establish a designated throwing line known as the oche or foul line.
The standard throwing distance spans between 8 and 10 feet from the target line for standard social competition, stretching to 12 feet in sanctioned league tournaments. Players throw from an upright, stationary stance; stepping over the line before the dart makes contact voids any points scored on that attempt.
Each player commands three darts of a matching color. The player who won the previous round throws first, alternating throws one dart at a time until all six projectiles have been thrown. If a dart fails to stick, knocks loose an existing dart, or rebounds off an edge, it remains where it lands until the round concludes. No re-throws are permitted.
