How to Change Your Stardew Valley Farm Name: Visual Save-File Editing Guide
Multiplayer complicates file updates because farm properties exist within shared world states. In multiplayer sessions, farmhands do not store the world's master state. Only the player managing the co-op host farm settings controls the environmental labels.
When the host edits their world file, the new name propagates to all connecting farmhands on their next login. Farmhands do not need to modify their local save caches, as their client pulls the property name from the host machine during connection handshakes. However, if a farmhand attempts to modify their locally stored character cache, the server silently overrides their local edits upon joining.
While working inside your save files, you can also perform a quick favorite thing change without paying the 500g fee at the Wizard's basement. Search for the tag in the same document to adjust the text prompt displayed when eating a Stardrop fruit.
Watch out for syntax issues when editing these strings. Keep character counts reasonable (under 32 characters) to prevent the text from clipping outside interface elements during dialogue cutscenes. Avoid special symbols like ampersands (&), angle brackets (< >), or unescaped quotes. In XML formatting, an unescaped ampersand breaks file parsing, which will cause your farm to disappear from the load menu entirely.
