Horimiya Franchise Timeline: from Webcomic Roots to 'The Missing Pieces' and Beyond
By Alexander Ross
Understanding the franchise's release model requires comparing its developmental phases, from indie shorts to physical box sets.
| Release Stage | Production Entity | Primary Content Covered |
|---|---|---|
| Original OVA Series (2012, 2021) | Hoods Entertainment / Gonzo / Marone | Select early arcs directly referencing HERO's webcomic art style. |
| Television Season 1 (Winter 2021) | CloverWorks | Chapters 1, 122 (condensed narrative spine ending at graduation). |
| The Missing Pieces (Summer 2023) | CloverWorks | Omitted slice-of-life chapters, school trip, and sports festival. |
| Home Video Releases (2024, 2025) | Crunchyroll Home Entertainment | Complete dual-audio collections and limited-edition Blu-ray box sets. |
The television trajectory wrapped with that home video release. With physical Blu-ray sets circulating globally and international dub casts, anchored by Alejandro Saab as Miyamura and Marisa Duran as Hori, completing their ADR runs, the main series stood complete.
