Hartsfield Rental Car Return Guide: Directions, Gas Stations, Skytrain, and Tips
By Sarah Jenkins
The consolidated ATL Rental Car Center sits separate from the main passenger terminals at 2300 Rental Car Center Parkway, College Park, GA 30337. Entering "Hartsfield-Jackson Airport" into navigation apps frequently routes drivers toward domestic passenger drop-off lanes, creating an unintended loop around the terminal access roads that adds twenty minutes of travel time.
Approaching from Downtown or Midtown Atlanta, take Interstate 85 South exit 71 for Riverdale Road. Follow the overhead directional signage marked specifically for "Rental Car Return." The exit ramp branches directly into dedicated flyover roadways that isolate rental traffic from commercial shuttles, rideshares, and hourly parking queues. Drivers arriving via Interstate 285 should merge onto I-85 North and take Exit 72, tracking the overhead green markers toward the staging center.
Stay alert during the final half-mile approach. The access roadway splits into two multi-lane corridors: one serving rental returns and the other routing toward Georgia International Convention Center parking. Missing this fork forces an awkward turnaround at standard street signals. Position your vehicle in the center-left lane as you pass under the rail bridge.
