Ground Control to Psychoelectric Girl Guide: Story, Characters, and Viewing Options
By Sophia Al-Mansoor
Tracing the distribution history of the series reveals the fluctuating nature of boutique anime licensing over the past fifteen years. Handled by NIS America during its aggressive expansion into niche Japanese animation, the series saw several physical pressings that remain prized collector items.
| Release / Distribution Channel | Active Window | Content & Technical Specifications |
|---|---|---|
| Original Japanese TV Broadcast (TBS/MBS) | April 2011, July 2011 | 12 television broadcast episodes; final Episode 13 distributed via home video OVA. |
| NIS America Premium Edition (Blu-ray) | January 2013, 2014 | Oversized rigid slipcase, full-color hardcover art book, Japanese audio with English subtitles. |
| NIS America Blu-ray Standard Edition | December 2014, Out of Print | 2-disc Blu-ray amaray packaging covering all 13 episodes; priced at $45, $60 MSRP. |
| Modern Digital & Streaming Platforms | 2020, 2026 | Periodic appearances on services like Crunchyroll, Tubi, and digital purchase storefronts. |
For collectors tracking down physical editions today, the NIS America release remains notable for its pristine video encode, preserving the hyper-saturated lighting choices made by Studio Shaft's compositing staff. Modern viewers consulting an anime streaming guide will find rights distributed inconsistently across regions, making legacy Blu-ray discs the primary method for experiencing the uncompressed original audio and the essential standalone thirteenth episode.
