Georgia Aquarium Overnight 2026: Updated Dates, Program Changes, and Availability
Sleeping on sealed concrete or thin terrazzo floors adjacent to millions of gallons of water presents unexpected comfort challenges. The indoor gallery climate stays between 65°F and 68°F overnight to maintain water temperature stability in the exhibits, making personal insulation critical.
Pack light, manageable gear. Suitcases and oversized external-frame packs are prohibited. The ideal kit contains:
- Sleeping Pad: A self-inflating camping pad or thick yoga mat. Standard twin-size air mattresses are permitted, but double or queen air beds are strictly rejected due to floor space restrictions.
- Warm Layers: Thermal sleepwear, wool socks, and an extra fleece. The air directly adjacent to the acrylic viewing panels stays damp and cool.
- Sleeping Bag: Rated for 45°F to 55°F to counter persistent HVAC airflow.
- Eye Mask and Earplugs: Mechanical filtration hums constantly, and emergency gallery safety lights remain illuminated all night.
- Power Bank: Wall outlets are scarce and reserved for facility equipment; personal device charging must happen via portable batteries.
Prohibited items include tents, cots, air pumps requiring wall power, outside alcohol (for non-catered events), and white-light flashlights. Red-spectrum lights are allowed during midnight walking trips to restrooms to avoid disrupting resting animals.
