From Quincy Flagship to South Shore Dining Empire: the Rise of Alba Restaurant Group

Get the latest details about From Quincy Flagship to South Shore Dining Empire: the Rise of Alba Restaurant Group.

After proving the model in downtown Quincy, Alba Restaurant Group pushed further south along the Route 3 corridor to intercept South Shore suburbs with high median household incomes.

In 2019, Keka opened Alba Hanover along Route 53, bringing the same dry-aged steak focus and wood-stone cooking to Plymouth County. The location captured corporate dining and family milestone events across Norwell, Duxbury, and Marshfield. Despite opening shortly before the hospitality disruptions of 2020, the Hanover outpost posted strong numbers by leaning on covered outdoor patio dining and an aggressive takeout butchery model.

Building on that momentum, Keka targeted Norfolk County for the group's most ambitious structural build to date. In October 2023, the Braintree Planning Board voted 4-0 to approve Keka’s development plan near Braintree Five Corners. Designed as an expansive restaurant and private event function hall, the Braintree venue directly targets South Shore wedding receptions, corporate seminars, and gala functions that previously had to look toward Boston or hotel ballrooms along Interstate 93.
