From Early Cameos to Leading Roles: the Complete Michael Cimino Screen Timeline
By Maya Lin-Takahashi
In 2020, Cimino secured the central role that elevated his profile worldwide: Victor Salazar in the Hulu original series Love, Victor. Conceived as an expansion of the universe established in the 2018 theatrical film Love, Simon, the teen drama series followed a working-class, Latinx teenager adjusting to life at Creekwood High School while wrestling with his cultural background, family pressures, and sexual identity.
Over 28 episodes spanning three seasons between 2020 and 2022, Cimino anchored the emotional center of the series. The show garnered critical praise for moving beyond simple coming-out tropes, engaging directly with religious guilt, socio-economic friction, and suburban divorce. Cimino received broad acclaim and multiple industry nods, including an Imagen Award nomination for Best Actor in a Comedy Series, proving his capability as a dramatic leading man.
